I have a set of TPiS Ported Heads. I bought them on a motor that I used in the race car. I had a VERY reputable NHRA engine builder rebuild the heads and give them a good valve job and then ran them in my car with the matched TPiS ZZ9 cam for a season. Roughly 5 race weekends....no street time.
Never dyno'd it, but it was probably in the neighborhood of 350 RWHP with this....new upgrades.....same but 'o meter today is 400 RWHP so that is my best guess. All stock bottom end and top end. The following is from TPiS's web site: These heads are factory castings that are completely inspected before any work is started. They are then given to our porting wizard. We install a 2.00" intake and a 1.56" exhaust valve. We use only Manley Premium Stainless Steel Valves. Each head is ported for max performance and given a 3 angle valve job. Then they are cc'd, milled, flow-benched and assembled with new guideplates, springs, and lightweight retainers. These are a great value in a stock casting. LT1 Flow numbers in .100 increments for the stock castings are as follows: 58, 115, 177, 214, 214, 214. Our ported LT1 heads with a 2.00/1.56 valve flows the following 70, 145, 203, 241, 265, 277. As you can see we get some great numbers out of these heads, and at $1250/exchange it's a tough head to beat. They charge $1250 for the service....plus a core. Say $200 for a good core off of eBay...so $1450 new. I would like to get $900 obo out of these heads..... Lemme know (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) |

Just to chime in here. This cam/heads combo ran steady 109 mph trap speeds and one 110+ mph pass in my full weight 93 Camaro A4 car. The motor was replaced with a S&S built forged 383 with a CC 305 cam and Lingenfelter CNCd LT4 heads and afterwards the car ran a 109 mph trap speed.....go figure.
The heads came from Myron Cottrell when he was still hand porting heads before he bought his CNC machine and they flow crazy well. Unless Randy has decked them they only had 0.020 deck surface removed so you should have no intake alignment problems. I can't recall the exact chamber volume on the heads but I do recall that with an Impala gasket I was right at 10.9 to 1. A full thickness GM LT1 gasket would be about 10.4 to 1. And although I am not certain of the mileage, I know that I only ran them for a year or so. I was mostly autoxing at the time. I spun a rod bearing and went to the 383 at that time and opted for buying a supposedly trick set of Lingenfelter LT4 heads and intake. I would have made more power keeping these heads and cam. Perry Hey Perry....nice to here from ya! Hope all is well! I did not deck the heads. S&S just hot tanked 'em, put a good valve job on 'em, and new springs and that is it. They said they were some real nice looking heads when I had them do the work, and they see some good stuff in that shop. Merry Christmas everybody.... If you still have these, and are willing to let them go for $800, I need to find out where my tuition reimbursement is from work and I will be able to pick these up from you. I should be able to find out this week.
shoot me an e-mail to my work address at michael.leaf@wellsfargo.com Thanks again man! P.S. Do you have casting numbers for these heads? I just want to make sure they are the pre-96 heads (non 571? castings) |

The casting numbers are:
10207643 4182 The 6 and 3 above are hard to read and could be a 6, 8, or 3. Randy |
