I was driving down to Target today and I saw a Black '11 HPE600 Camaro. The dealer was closed so I do not know about the Price or Milage. From what I saw thru the window it is a 6 speed, serial #35 with 602hp accoring to the decal on the dash.
How much do these things worth?
I have a thing for black f-bodies....

How are the 5th gen Camaro's? I know they are pigs, but 600 hp, suspension and brake mods, maybe not bad? Still, I can't imagine paying for 20" track tires!

So are they pissed of because the Hennessy package is crap, giving them issues, poor workmanship, ect. or pissed because they payed too much for it?

From what I understand the Hennessy camp is just a shady business all around. I think their is a fairly long thread on corner-carvers discussing this.

Try a search under Hennessy Motorsports complaints. That is what John Hennessy Called his business then. You can also goto Viper Club of America and type in Hennessey in the search and read all the stories there too.

Cool car. Saw one here driving around a parking lot and then parked..sounded great.

But yea...it's a Hennessy. Lot's of people are not big fans of the man, myself included. He screwed a lot of people over and never had to make things right (therefore never did) with many people. In my opinion, he should have been banned from the automotive community. Sadly this happens a lot. Out here in So Cal there was a shop called Strictly Performance (which was a Car craft, Hot Rod, CHP, Camaro Performers, etc favorite) he basically did the same thing but to Corvette and F-bodies and taking it one step further even commit VIN fraud on cars...he too got away with it and re-opened a shop (which I believe is either barely getting by, or failed). Funny because he used to work for Morgan Motorsports (another failed shop due to fraud) which was also a magazine favorite...

you would think the magazines would listen to its readers and fan base and not want to promote a guy (any guy) who does shady business.

Even though it was "free" it was too much of a hasle to deal with him. We had an appointment set, I get the car, put it on a trailer, tow it over ect. and he tells me that he does not have time to do the job. We set up a new appointment, brought the car over again, and he had me wait around for 2 hours, while he was playing video games with his staff, before he got strated on the car.
About a week later I found out that a friend of mine had him convert his automatic to a stick. He had all kinds of issues with him and with the pedals. He welded the pedals into his car. I took a look at the work he did, it was scarry... He does not know how to weld and he did no prep, he didn't even take out or fold back the carpet far enough, burning a holes in it. The weld itself was sloppy, with a half a dozen welding wires dangelling from a spot weld.

Update on the Car. I called up Hennessey with the VIN and the car number. They told me that it was a mailed out package, supercharger+exhaust, and they did not work on this car themself. I guess that would be a good thing.
I called up the dealer, they told me that car has 1000 miles on it and they are asking $39,900.
I am out of town till Thursday, so if it is still there on Friday, and they give me $10K for my '04 GTO, I will buy it $34K.

Yes, there is a word specifically about him.

I wouldn't deal with Hennessy AT ALL. Lots and lots of horror stories from his Viper days. Here in Texas, "He Needed Killin" is a perfectly legal defense for murder, and the only reason he is still alive is that he stole parts off of out of state cars to put the Texas cars together. He seemed to take good care of the locals, but if you shipped your car in from out of state...

I don't see any good reason to do business with him, even if the magazines love him.

I had a slow day a work today, so I been looking around the internet. My confidence in a Hennessey product is quite low.
I am still in Illinois but I got the urge to drive something other than the rental, so I grabbed a buddy from work and we went to look at some cars.
He wanted to take a Porsche on a test drive, but the dealer just handed him some brochures instead of car keys.
I took him down the street to a Chevy dealership to show him how it is done. We had the keys to a black+orange Camaro SS RS, after 2 minutes of us hitting the lot. We took it for a test ride on some country back roads. The sales guy was really young, around 20 or so. He was very quiet sitting in the back seat when I hit the red line in 4th gear. He later told us that, that was the fastest he ever rode in a car. We drove the car by the parking lot at work, had the sales guy take a picture of us "to see how we would look with it" (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) than took it back to the sales lot.
The car itself feels heavy and "boaty" I was not too impressed. Only thing I kind of liked about driving it was the shifter, it had a "switch" like feel to it. Feels a lot different than a GTO, CTS V-Type, or 4th gen shifter. Oh by the way there is no legroom in the back, less than in a 4th gen, and much less than the GTO, whichsurprisinglyngly roomy.
After we dropped the car off, my friend pointed out that taking a Camaro for a joy ride is not the same as a 911 given the price difference, so we acrosscross the street to a BMW dealer. I looked around the lot and the most expensive car they had there, that was worth driving, and found an M3. 10 minutes later we were driving down the street with the sales guy giving us directions to a "twisty road." He took us to a nice spot too, it was about 3 miles of sharp twisties up and down a hill, with no one in sight. I drove the M3 at about 6/10, it handled nicely too, solid brakes, and good pick up, but I did freak out both my buddy and the sales dude sitting in the back. So I drove him back nice and civilized to the dealership. We did not have this guy take pictures of us. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
The definitelyfietly drives better just not $65K better. As for looks, the Camaro looks much better at least from the outside.
The price I am willing to pay for a Camaro keeps dropping.

Redline in 4th? That's moving! So, after driving it, you're still interested? Just take those back seats out, it's just added weight that you'll probably never use.

How did you like the engine? What about the brakes? I'm sure with suspension upgrades, it should handle much better.
602 hp is a lot, but it does weigh like 3800 lbs. Does it actually feel like you are driving a 600 hp car? The reason I'm asking is because my dad has a BMW 535i, and is looking to get something else. He got an amazing deal on it, and can probably sell it after driving it for a year or two for the same price he got it for. He looked at the CTS-V, but they are still too expensive right now, and he wasn't impressed with the handling. I understand it isn't going to corner like the BMW, but after a couple of suspension upgrades, I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to make it a little better.

I'm thinking he's not going to go for the Camaro for the simple fact that they don't have any rear seat room.

Was that Zoltan by chance?

That sounds like a pretty good deal. Thats essentially 1.5 x's the stock performance at the stock SS price tag..only thing that worries me is who installed and tuned it?

Yes, Zoltan's car. Small world. I gave up on tuners very early on, bought HP tuners software and taught myself how to do it.
