I took the blower out of our 92 to replace it, and it appears that the blower cage is pressed on. I can see little, rusty, splines on the shaft, and no nut, nor threads for a nut. The replacement motor has a nut on the end to hold the cage on. I've hit the stud with PB Blaster and after sitting a while, tapped on it with a small hammer. No budge.

Is it really pressed on, and, if so, what's the trick for getting it off? Thanks.

After dropping a new battery in the car, and deciding to take it out for a drive, I turned the blower on to get some air in the car, and to exercise the electrical parts. I noticed the blower was making the familiar 'brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr' noise you get when the blower cage is hitting something. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/banghead.gif)

So, I pulled the blower out yet again. It seemed to be hitting the side of the evaporator box between the blower and evaporator. I grabbed the Dremel and ground some more fiberglass off as well as the back side of the screw bosses where the blower securing screws screw into. Put things back together, still 'brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr'! I pulled it back out and had my wife turn the key and A/C controls on while I held the blower in the open. It seems that the blower cage OR the blower shaft are bent. The damned cage wobbles!! I messed with trying to loosen the set screw and wobbling the cage on the shaft some (heh, that's what she said!!), to no avail. After about the 4th or 5th time in and out, I just gave up. I'll just turn the radio up, I guess.

This cheap Chinese crap is really annoying! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rant2.gif)
