I've been going over this and this is what I've come up with ....
Mine is about $5000 .... Events: $1500 - Fees (5 events) $400 - travel related expenses (2 events*) Consumables: $1500 - Tires (2 sets) $250 - brake pads (1 set) $400 - front rotors (1 pair) Repairs: $500 - to fix what I break * I live 15 minutes from a race course That is the short list. How does your compare? Do you even want to know? |

This last year was less and this coming year will be less as a result of the getting the dirt track car going and doing less events.
But say 5 events you listed. 5 event registration - $1500 Lodging for 5 events - $400 fuel for truck and car - $500 oil changes - $200 1 set of tires for 5 - $650 2 set of pads - $300 1 set of rotors - $60 For a grand total of just over $3,600 It sure adds up quick. Up until recently I have been at about 5K per year. But now that the car is almost ready for its first run, it will probably jump to around 10K. Mostly travel and entry fee.

No, I don't want to know.
Actually, at the moment I'm in denial. I'm fairly sure the tranny problems will go away if I ignore them. I'm also trying hard to convince myself that buying fresh tires more often will be more cost-effective than changing anything else on the car. There's more denial - even though I'm probably going to change tires I'm sure that won't set off another round of breakage and mods. Well.....havent had the Camaro too long but...
Average $200 per event in entrance fees. Used to be $50/weekend in gas...now $100. I stay in dad's motorhome so THAT is free. Say $100 average in towing gas. Food is around $100 for whole family. I figure I go through one "tire" a weekend so $175 for tires. Now I HOPE I don't have as much damage/upgrade expenses per weekend as I had this year so figure $100 weekend. Misc. $100. $875 per weekend..... If you put on "wear and tear" into the weekend of say $300 for brake pads/rotors, engine rebuilds, etc. figure $1175 per weekend I plan on 4 races this year so....oh wait....gotta build a motor in there.....CRAP! Including purchase price of the car, the last two years (I bought the car more than two years ago) Have been around 9,000 per year. I added the cars price because I no longer drive it.
That does not include fuel, entry fees, and other travel expenses. So for the last couple year figure about $10,500 per year. Now how freakin' terrible is that!!!!!!! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) On the positive side those costs will start to go down quite a bit and I expect that to hover around $3,500 per year. I gotta add the modifications since I would have never bought this stuff if I didn't autox. Oh yea add in the price of the Truck (which if not for towing, would have bought me a new Honda Civic) and the price for a trailer.....Never mind. I will just ignore all of the non-sense and pretend that I never, even once, thought of it!!! Remember folks this is just an ESP autoxer |

Probably $1500 for tires, entry fees, lodging, and gas. Who knows, if she breaks.

My budget is $0.
Everything that I spend comes out of money leftover after paying bills and depositing into college funds and retirement accounts. I never added it up because I don't want to know. |

I'm going to try to do 6 races this year at about $300 a race. Add in gas money, food, hotel, etc. at most of the events and I'm guessing I can do it for about $600 a weekend. Add in car maintenance and I have no idea, but about $200 per race weekend just for tires is a good estimate.

Running two classes, $800 per weekend for away races, $600 per for home races with no towing or hotel involved. And that's with a light, little "easy on tires and brakes" car!
Racing ain't cheap. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) |

I limit myself to about $550 per month or $6600 per year. This is just for parts, I do all labor myself so that helps. If you add maintenance, oil changes, tires, brake pads, gas, entry fees etc. then I have no idea and don't really want to know (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) . Probably adds another 2-4K or so. Last year I spent quite a bit more since my paint job on my '71 was $5300. My wife just came up pregnant a week ago so this year it's going to be wayyyy down (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I will say that prepping 2 differant cars for 2 differant types of racing is a major drain on the budget.

For myself it depends on how much I really want to spend. Here are the break downs for me but this could be clased a a whole yr for some people. Road mileage this yr is 6000 in a week, and track milege is aprox 300. Just to get to and back from the start is 1400 miles.
One Lap Of America 04 total mileage aprox 7700 in 8 days (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Entry fee 2100 Tires 1200 Maintance cost 500 to get ready Fuel costs 700 food 150 hotels 200 Lots of driving and sleeping very little in car when you can brakes and rotors 400 brakes and rotors 400 when you get back Weekend at Beave Run to warmup car and myself included fuel 500 Broken Parts ??????????? I might hit some local autocross's but My budget for the yr is just about gone. Getting a co-driver that can drive at tracks can lower the entry fee, fuel and hotel. But as a car owner im responsable for the rest. Can anybody say AAA GOLD Member for that unexpected problem or even Bail Money!!!!!!!:) Later John |

HAHA! Yeah, I go through that $600 in the first months pre-school expense. Good thing I live in California where my home mortgage is like a BILLION dollars....makes the net income line look REAL SMALL! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
Somebodies gotta pay though...so Arnold can look good! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

I am in the $5000 a year range for racing. 2002 was higher as that is when I modded the T/A.
