Hi,

As the title suggests, what would you turn yourselves to:
  • 2013 CTS-V Sedan
  • 2013 AMG C63
  • 2013 IS-F
  • 2013 M3
  • G-Sedan w/ lsx engine
You read correctly, the top 4 are straight forward, the last option I'm considering finding a good body Inifiniti G-sedan and transplant a LSX engine (maybe crate ls7) w/ a T56.
Very common, no cutting/welding required... just a mounting kit and modification to the oil-pan, and new driveshaft.

Anyways... let me know what you think.

Here are some pro/con of some of the choices.
  • 2013 CTS-V Sedan
    • available manual transmission
    • plenty power
    • great handling package
  • 2013 AMG C63
    • only auto transmission
    • open-differential (unless you pay an extra 6k$ for a LSD +30hp tune and some carbon fiber bling)
  • 2013 IS-F
    • only auto transmission
    • might be low on hp/tq
    • great handling package
  • 2013 M3
    • available manual transmission
    • only available in coupe (no more sedans M3)
    • great handling package
  • G-Sedan w/ lsx engine
    • available manual transmission
    • lowest price-range, especially if find a decent 2004-2008 body
    • great potential for power w/ lsx powerplant + ecu (thinking getting at least in the 500-600hp since it's a daily driver)
    • some assembly required
What do you think ?

G-Sedan=G8? For the price, I think it would be a great car.
CTS-V would also be a great car. I was trying to talk my dad into getting one. He didn't care for the weight of the car and the interior.
M3 would be amazing. But the problem I have with them is the guys on the forums run from them when the warranty runs out.

If BWM ever comes out with a 6-speed manual 335d, I would jump on one in a sec. I can't tell you how impressed I am with that engine. Instant/massive torque. I just can't stand auto's.

G-sedan = Inifiniti sedan w/ LSX transplant... not G8
Love the 335d too... hate auto tranny too.
Same goes for the Benz E class diesel... no manual.

The Nissan G sedan with the LSx in it does sound interesting, but, I second the idea of a G8 GXP, or even a base V-6 G8, and then you could also do an LS7 transplant VERY VERY easily to make a domestic version of that SICK Holden HSV W427 Commodore!! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/cool2.gif) (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/2thumbs.gif)

Sorry, but I personally feel that the G8/Commodore body style is THE best looking 4 door sedan out there, and yes, that includes ALL of the high-zoot/snoot Teutonmobiles, and even our own pride and joy, the CTS-V (although it IS a close second with it's 'bulldogish' looks!!). An engine swap in a DD could make a fun ride, but if _anything_ happens, you're on your own. Get the Caddy, drive it like it's stolen, and let Caddy fix what breaks for a while. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/2thumbs.gif)

It needs to be dependable to be fun.

I would vote CTS-V sedan from your list. I have a CTS4 and I love it. I would also suggest adding the G8 GT or GXP which can be had in manual.

If I had the coin laying around, I would blast the 20 minute drive to that car and snatch it up before someone else did!! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

M3.

The CTS-V I like but I'm not a fan of the looks.

G-sedan-who wants to have a car with an engine swap and potential issues as a daily driver? I drive 30K a year so take that with a grain of salt.

Thumbs down to the others because of the transmissions.

It's all perspective.
I have the unique opportunity in the jobs I have to drive these cars.
I like all of them.
I would think about having a daily, bought brand new by your choices?
Having a worry free vehicle with a warranty is nice.
Now for some power, I'd say CTS-V.
The M cars are very nice also, I also say look at the M5.
They handle well also.
AMG's are very nice along with the lexus, but I'm partial to a manual trans.
( That 6.3 is an impressive engine/ wonder where that coyote engine idea came from???)
Wish they would do manuals in the AMG's.

I figure the G8 is better choice than a G-sedan + transplant...
I can still change the engine/mod it for more power....

Love the M5... but pricing is steep... I'd rather save ~20k+ and have cts-v
M3 is no longer available in 4-door... which is a bummer.

The auto tranny is a bummer, but I can sacrifice and live w/ it, provided it has a good manual mode w/ very little delay and good feeback/response... but definitely lots of points against those vehicles.

The other fact is that I tend to always buy new... all these cars aren't cheap... that's why the idea of G w/ transplant started... good body, new engine/tranny/brakes... so basically a new car... I guess the same can be done to a G8 and less issues... add upgraded suspension + S/C the engine off the bat (rebuild engine in a few years for a refresh w/ forged internals for more power).

So I can get a S/C G8 w/ upgraded suspension and a few mods for ~40k$ (yeah... it has ~30kmiles) but for the price, how bad is it compared to the alternatives ? + I have an extra LS2 monster engine available for use, since it's no longer for the camaro.

The G8 GXP comes with an LS3. If you look you can find them for 30-35k. G8Board.com is a good place to start.

I had one and loved it.

Of the options, I would go with the CTS-V, but in wagon form.
I have considered purchasing one several times, but decided it was not practical enough, in terms of total cost, mileage, etc.

I would stay as far away form BMW as I could. I have a 2010 335i, and multiple dealers, in multiple states, have done everything in their power to evade warranty claims.
Resale on BMWs has gone to absolute crap, although, that is probably less true for M cars.

Have you considered the Audi S4?
Stock, it is lower on power than some of the others in your list, but Stasis has a package that bumps it up to 410 hp / 370 lb-ft, and they include a factory-matching warranty. They also have a high bias center diff, for something more RWD like.

The G8 GT's didn't come in a manual, only A6s. The GXP's could be had with a manual and A6.

everytime I drive an A4/S4... I swear i won't owe one... I just hate the way they drive and they plow themselves.
I'd consider an Evo before I'd consider that.

I would have the Beemer in my driveway if I was gonna track it at all, if not..... the Caddy.
