Local PCA chapter is hosting an autocross event in Lubbock, TX. This is the first summer we've had a local event in years (probably 10+ years ago).

I'm just going to participate, get some seat time and learn the ropes so I can make myself more useful for our FSAE team this year. Going to be kind of a loosely classed event, so it won't be straight up SCCA regs. Should still be fun and I'll be up against some quality cars. Mostly Porsche variants, a handfull of Vettes and other stuff. We'll see how I do on my first outing, and hope the V6 and T-56 stays happy.

Plan on snapping pics/video in the process for the facebook page I manage as well for some fresh content.

Take sunscreen, a hat and stay hydrated!! Stay away from carbonated and caffienated drinks. We take at least two gallons of water per person per day at our local events, frequently much more. Keeping cool and well-watered goes a long way towards having a fun event.

Yeah, my balding head is gonna have a boonie hat to keep covered.

I'll take a cooler with water and sunscreen as well.

I'm excited for sure, first time to race in 7 years. Last time was just drag strip stuff, and it died off.

Just out there to learn, and have some good fun without getting a ticket! Car has full Strano HP7 kit, but the 275's on there are getting long in the tooth. Should be getting replaced after this summer season lol!

Good luck and just remember that it's for fun! My last event was with the PCA and I had a great time, they were great to run with and they really seemed to appreciate that I brought a 2nd gen TA as they told me most of them got started in those cars.

Good advice! I did my first auto-x a few weeks ago and got burned to high heavens! Had to stop for a gatorade on the way too because I was parched. Still a great time, though.

Don't worry about being competitive, I was slower than a guy driving the same car as my fiance's Lexus. I do wish I walked the course an extra time or two, though

Thanks guys,

Just got in a few important items from Blainefab!

I'm running 1/2" spacers and ARP studs on all four corners and wanted to make sure I wouldn't have problems in tech. I bought some open ended nuts from Alan along with his reinforced/welded swaybar brackets. Looking forward to installing those soon.

Here's the car as it is at the moment.

Almost ran out of room on the "modifications" window during registration.

No problems with spacers. As long as all the lugs are on and tight, you're good. And if you ever, at any point want to sell those wheels in the future, please contact me.

Haha thanks!

I've searched high and low for other Mistral 6's. Can't find them and Speedline UK and IT don't have any production records of them anymore (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Bought them off a guy that campaigned an SCCA World Challenge Camaro, they were pretty rough (understandable), but refinished them.

Awesome looking wheels, they go for big bucks when a set does pop up, usually 3 piece. I like the one piece much better. The wheels remind me of the 90's supercars I used to drool over as a kid. Just something about them screams that era. I like having wheels that are unusual on f-bodies, currently running a set of OZ superleggera's I got from Jacob on here (thanks dude!). So if you ever want to get rid of those things, even years from now, you know where you can find a quick sale haha.

That British show on velocity network, wheeler dealers; they have one grey mistral hanging on the wall of the shop. Every time I see that show, I need that wheel.

I'll be damned.

It could possibly be one off the Vauxhall Astra ST200, the Mistral 4. They were 17 x 7.5 while mine are 17 x 9.5s.

You've also got the Mistral 7 (has a huge lug cover cap) and the 3 piece Mistral Corsas.

Bought mine off racingjunk while trying to find Z06 speedlines.

Was a fantastic experience! We were able to do 2, 6-lap practice sessions of the course and one 4-lap timed session.

Not sure where I placed yet, since it is PCA and they're still getting things figured out it was more of a fun run. I got classed with a bunch of STI's and an Evo with one corvette vert and a Cayenne!

The two STI's were quicker than me by probably 4 seconds, but they had more power and AWD. The last fast corner was a dead spot, too high to shift into 1st, but so low in 2nd that the car was out of the cam's powerband.

They'll be posting times on their website soon.

HAD A FRIGGIN BLAST! Got nothing but compliments, and had good tips from two road race instructors there.

Two sessions, turn it up a little. I get some funny commentary here and there.
