The intake I am installing on my 02 Camaro requires that I remove the passenger side windshield wiper. I would like to keep the drivers side wiper.
The linkage from the wiper motor goes to the passenger side wiper then to the drivers side. So remove the passenger side disables the drivers side. Is it possible to run the linkage directly from the motor to the drivers side wiper? Can I index the motor and wiper to accomplish this? How long does the linkage need to be? Or do I need to change to a different wiper motor and if so which one? And how does it mount? By the may this car will see some street use as well as some track days HPDE and such. I'm sure someone has done this so any help would be great. Thanks Craig |

I would think with some welding skills you could buy a universal motor and weld up a bracket. Is that manifold worth it?

Unfortunately to go a different intake that will give similar performance would cost a bunch of money.
So I'm trying to keep the wiper. I'm sure it can be done and someone has done it. It would just be helpful to get input from someone that has done it. Thanks |

I can't help you, but I am curious which intake manifold you're installing.

Some people like the truck I take which required cutting the cowl. I think makes pretty good power as a stock intake.

I thought the LS6 intake was a great compromise. Are you really pushing for that last HP?

On the 02 I'm using a Edelbrock Super Victor with a 4150 style throttle body.
The throttle body sits about where the passenger side wiper mounts. On my 99 I'm using a Holley Hi-Ram. So same wiper issue different intakes. I can completely remove the wipers but I would like to keep the drivers side on both cars. I would not like to be caught in the rain with no wiper. |

I don't have a car with wipers at the shop, but if I'm recalling the layout correctly, the passenger side pivot assy could be relocated towards the drivers side, and the arms shortened to fit. Might be a more elegant way to do it directly from the drivers side but I'd need to see the whole assy in place to figure that out. |

I just had my wipers all apart. I think Alan is correct. It will be a bit of a challenge getting the angles correct for relocated passenger pivot assembly connecting rods, but I'm sure it's possible.

I was thinking about going from the wiper motor to the drivers side wiper. I was thinking I could clock the motor and the wiper mount.
I'm not sure if that would work to get the full sweep. I might need to play with arm lengths. If it's to much of a pain I will just scrap the wipers. |

On the 02 I'm using a Edelbrock Super Victor with a 4150 style throttle body. So it's a carb style intake with a 90* elbow on it facing the rear like all of the turbo LSxers do?? No elbow, with the set back on the 4th gen F-bodies the TB sits where the passenger side wiper mount is. |

I might need to play with arm lengths. If it's to much of a pain I will just scrap the wipers. If you don't mess with the pivot to arm levers the sweep won't change. Arm length won't affect the sweep either. The motor is pretty well buried in the cowl, I would leave that where it's at and move the pass pivot to a spot with access thru the cowl opening. Shortening arms should be a simple cut, overlap, weld (or bolt) the pieces together. |

Alan
Your idea might be the best bet. Steve I'll take pictures and post when I do this. Thanks for the input Craig |
