Anyone know the weight of the stock fiberglass hood on a 92 1-LE? We have a chance to buy one to replace our stocky stock Hood off our 90 Iroc-z. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
Any body know off hand ?
Thanks, Liz (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/thumbup.gif)

Call any of the fiberglass hood dealers. They'll get you a rough estimate. Or do you need it to the 1/2 pound.

The stock '92 1LE hood is steel. At least that is what is on our 92 B4C 1LE Camaro. Not sure of the weight, but pobably standard with most Camaro steel hoods.

I'm pretty sure the only 3rdgens to get fiberglass hoods, were the 82-84 (maybe only two of those years) Z28's.

No 1LE car 3rd gen or 4th had a fiber hood. The only cars (Fbody) that came with a hood other than steel were the 91-92 Firehawks which had aluminum hoods and the 82 and 83 Camaro Z28s with the hi-po motor, and I can't remember 100% for sure if it was fiber or not, I just remember that the hood scoops were functional on them....I thought they were fiber but don't quote me on that. I do know for sure that none of the 1LE cars had anything other than steel. If you did find one then it was a SUPER rare part that no one has ever seen nor claimed to have had.

They are correct. Only the 82-83 Z-28's had fiberglass hoods and only with certain engine combos. I've heard they weigh about 40-45 lbs. I talked to a company that make a flat RS type hood and they said it weighs 35 lbs.
