[I usually use up cars until they're not worth much anymore so I've never had to worry about resale value. As for the Accord being a better car... maybe, maybe not. Nothing lasts forever! I just don't care about imports very little of the profit stays in the US. Thats why I'm crazy enough to buy American.

I'm sure that's true for you but most Americans trade in their cars for something newer alot more often. To them resale value is important. For example, the average price for a 2003 Ford Taurus in my area is ~$9600. Considering the car stickered for ~$22k that's over 50% depreciation in barely 3 years (granted with rebates and incentives it might not be quite so bad)

Even if you do keep the car for a while a 12yr old Honda will fetch at least 2-3 in decent condition while you'll practically be giving a way a domestic car of the same age/conditon.

I also try to buy American when I can but when it comes down to spending my money on a car I'm buying the best one I can afford regardless of where its made. If the Big 2.5 truely want to compete then they either need to make truely competative products or they need to price what they do have accordingly (which they can't afford to do). Continuing to buy their sub-par products will only encorage them to continue building them.

in all honesty I'm like some just mentionned... I honestly don't give a **** about resale value cause I want to keep it for so long.
Hence, this will be replacing a 94 beater civic... so the car has been good for 12 years so far...
That's the reason I want some fun factor out of it, cause I'm thinking on keeping it for 10-15 years.

agree... and as a matter of fact, i would push the envelope and say I hate unions... they distroy whatever is good, and no longer look for the good of the employees, but their own agenda... ie political power.]

[rant]

Alright, I know this is a thread about choosing your new daily driver, but that's a crock of shit.

How do they not look for the good of the members? A pension and good benefits aren't looking after the members?

Did no one hear about IBM cutting ALL their employees pensions to help the bottom line? Oh, but don't worry, you can contribute into a 401k and we'll match 3%... but we're going to setup a special plan for executives to help them more (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

And how about employers who provide little to no contribution to health insurance?

"More and more employers are shifting the growing costs of health coverage to workers and retirees, forcing them to pay high out-of-pocket premiums, deductibles and co-payments. These employers are turning to the Wal-Mart model of health care coverage, which is much too expensive for workers to afford. These workers are being forced to rely on government programs, like Medicare, that state taxpayers pay for. Many studies have recently shown just how much the public pays for Wal-Mart’s refusal to provide affordable health care. For example, Wal-Mart workers in California rely on the state taxpayers for about $32 million annually in health-related services." - http://www.ufcw.org/worker_political_agend..._care/index.cfm

Unions have a bad reputation because that's the way the media portrays them. Who is the media? Big business. Why does big business (Walmart, etc) not like unions? The unions actually speak up when big business pulls moves like trying to change who and when overtime is available: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/04/19/...ain612694.shtml

I'm not saying that Unions are an end-all, beat-all solution but if you think corporations "look for the good of the employees", you must really have the blinders on.

Back on-topic... that SRT in Black is fricken sweet (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

thanks for the comments on the sweetness of the srt8... i forgot to specify about ppl here in QC for unions... it just seems that most government worker and major corporation, ppl here tend to just be freakin lazy and strike for bs reason... instead of just working hard.
Heck, no kidding we have the highest % of unionised companies in North America and the least interest on investers to invest on our economy... because some ppl take everything for granted and the world is owed to them.
Anyways... rant mode off... I work hard for my $, and find it frustrating when lots don't and just bitch about everything.
Back on topic, I'll support companies that work harder, such as DC vs GM, where you can tell that employees give more and are prouder of showing results... not just a bunch of whiners that become lazy and the product in the end is affected w/ QA issues.
