A guy on ls1tech is selling a low-mileage GTO T56 removed from an '04. He claims it is in good working order, but I don't know him at all. It is currently at MTI. Apparently it was swapped for a Viper trans while building the motor. If they pulled it, MTI might be able to vouch for the condition.

The GTOs have the 2.97 first like a 93, but with different overdrives and upgraded synchros (like the C5 Z06). F-body transmissions have double-cone synchros on 1&2 only, with single cones on everything else. The GTO trans has triples on 1&2, doubles on 3-6, and a single on reverse only.

I recently swapped to a built (fork, keys, all ferrous internals cryo'ed and polished) version of the same transmission and like it so far, but I haven't driven it in anger yet. Several people asked "how do I get one of those?". Well, here's a budget option (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) And no, unlike the 93 for LT1s, the GTO trans is NOT legal in ESP, but it is a bolt-in replacement for an LS1.

He originally posted the price as $1500 in the classifieds, and later posted it for $1000 in the manual trans section (if a moderator doesn't remove it).
