My loss – your gain…..

I’ve got a 92 Z-28 that I have lost interest in, and want out of my life (and garage). It would be a great track car / autocross car, with a little work. Here are the highlights:

92 Z-28 Hardtop Car – 135k on the odo. The paint (teal) is shot, but there is no rust on the car. Glastek Fiberglass Cowl hood (bolt on). Expected dents and dings, but no major bodywork needed.

Engine .020 over 350 – 10.6 – 1 CR, Splayed main caps, steel crank and rods, KB pistons, Aluminum L98 heads, CC-305 cam and SS roller rockers. Holley Stealth Ram intake w/ 52 mm TB, SLP Headers and Cat-back (no cats) Exhaust. I bought the long block from Trackbird, so if there are any questions I can’t answer – he can. (less than 1,500 miles – maybe less than 1,000 – can’t remember the odo when it went in)

T-56 Conversion – Centerforce DF clutch, Pro 5.0 shifter, Spohn Crossmember and TA. (not sure of the total miles, but the gearbox was gone through before installation by Dan Popp of McClusky Chevrolet in Cincinnati)

Rebuilt rearend – 3.73 Motive Gears, Eaton Posi, Moser Axles, Summit Aluminum Cover, Ratech install parts w/ solid pinion spacer (less than 200 miles)

Chassis – Spohn subframe connectors (weld in), Eibach springs, KYB shocks, all new steering parts from spindle to spindle (except Pitman arm)

The engine needs tuned for the cam / intake – I have a number of items from Craig Moates that will be available separately to whoever buys the car. Some of the additional items available are:

Laptop w/ scanning, emulator, and prom burning tools
New C4-HD front brake setup from Ed Miller
Corbeau Seats and brackets (almost new – still in box)
Adjustable LCA’s and Panhard rod – needs new rod ends.
1LE – a/c delete boxes (2) and air pump replacement pulley

I figure I’ve got over $15k into the car plus however many hours (way too many). I’m going to ask $7k OBO for the car (only) and see where that gets me. I’m not going to part out the car of sell any of the extra parts until the car is sold. If anyone has any interest, please PM me or e-mail me at mhalter@columbus.rr.com .

Thanks,

Mike

I think this one has Kevin's name all over it. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

But I'm interested in an AC delete box, for the right price!

Half of it was mine (engine, sway bars and I forget what, if anything else). I'd like to have it back, but I'd be divorced (or so I was informed as I mentioned seeing the ad).

Jules, he bought them new from me. I used one for about 3 days, pulled them and sold them to him. They've been in a box for a while now and are "as new".

They are the TRS 'wide' seats (black):

I fear that the car may be worth more as parts, than as the whole - I just don't have the space or time to deconstruct it....

Of course if I ever feel the need to cut it into tiny pieces, I know someone that has practical experience in that arena. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Going home to charge the batteries for the cordless sawzall right now.....(just in case (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) ).

I'm starting to consider demodding mine and using the cash to buy yours (selling my brakes, shocks, springs, sway bars, ported TB, and a long list of other stuff). I'd like to have my engine back, being wrapped in a 1992 Z28 is just a bonus.

I haven't sold the car yet, so I'm hanging onto the parts until it's gone.

This is a perfect project for an American Iron car.

Maybe sub the computer for a MegaSquirt, add cage/safety stuff, 17x9 wheels/Toyos.
Badda bing badda boom.

Jeff, you're really right about that. I built the engine (had a machine shop do the work, but I selected the parts for it) and it's a splayed main cap motor, ZZ3 steel crank, balanced, torque plate honed, deck plugs, 0 decked, etc (I could go on). It was thoroughly and properly done and built from a sub 5k mile "warranty motor" block (tossed the rest) from GM (piston slap). So, it was seasoned, but not even dirty yet.
