I hear ya. We have a four month "break" in this area.
Just like last year and the year before, by the end of the season I'm breathing down the neck of FTD on raw time. Next spring, after a winter of driving mostly pickup trucks on dark, wet roads, I will once again have my head firmly planted where the sun doesn't shine and be driving like a drunken gorilla. |

I kinda like having the winter off. I could autocross around here in the winter, but I usually don't.
I'll probably have one stinker event at a test 'n tune, then I'll be good to go. Although...now that I have an AWD car I might have to see if I can go up to a snowy event if we end up having any. That could be fun! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/burnout.gif) |

Somehow the Evo and I just never completely clicked. Glad I didn't sell my Camaro when I got the Evo! I'm also glad to have the winter off to do things with the car and stop the bleeding on entry fees and such. I am happy that the off season is so much shorter here in the mid-Atlantic area than it was when I lived outside of Boston. This post has been edited by SM95Z28: Nov 16 2006, 06:06 PM |

Evos are cool, but damn I don't think I could tolerate the online community of Evo drivers (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) |

I'm glad to have winter off for a while, but one third of a year is a bit long.

Heck - winter are the events where we have the best attendance! Everyone is in long sleeves and jeans all day. In fact, our RR season runs Oct-Mar. No summers.
Come on 50*F days!! |

Matt I can agree with you on that. We were down there in April it was 90+ with the worst Humidity I have have seen. Winters are great around here. I keep sharp by Drifting during the snow storms!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/drink.gif) Then on too trail riding a snowmobile. Its just like a road course but with snow and ice. You learn too early or late Apex. Trail Braking is always fun. What it means to have some push and be loose!! And power on Oversteer is a blast.. Screw it up and trees are within 3-4 ft or less on the trail!! So you have to get it correct. John |

Our(midwest division) last autocross is this weekend. Im chairing the event and hope to go out with a bang. Im not leaving till my tires are corded!
We usually finish first part of Nov. and don't start till the end of March. I agree with others, the vacation from autcross is a good time to relax |

Getting settled in for a six month off season in New England. On the bright side, we get a lot of time for car prep....

(IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/banghead.gif) (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/banghead.gif) I want to paint the car this winter and will probably prime one panel at a time under a crappy version of this. I have to agree with 198ESP (I think we met at a NASA autocross once), it will be a LONG winter. |

I kinda like the break (not from driving), but for getting large projects done on the car that usually can't get done in weeks between OT days. This winter, I'm already working on a full rollcage, !wiring, caliper rebuilds, driver cooling, more safety, front breather, front lexan, and a LOT of other things!

(IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/gr_driving3.gif) Coincidentally, GTR2 and a Logitech Momo wheel are on my Christmas list. Live For Speed actually has an autocross option, but I haven't figured out how to add any cones yet. I had a few minutes of fun laying out a course with tire marks, but I didn't manage a convincing chicago box (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) The model airplane controller I'm using is less than ideal for the job. |
