The first thing it says is this is not a recall, and don't automatically take the car in. It goes on to say that the failure rate on the left OR right catalytic converter is high, and they are extending the warranty on them. If you have already had them replaced, they have a reimbursement program.

Not sure if I should sent it back stating something like, "thanks, but the stock cats have been in a box in the garage since the car was about a year old. I will make you a great deal on them." (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I'd carry them in and ask them to exchange them. Tell them "they might have been bad if they were on the car and I want new ones".

More info is here:

Got the same letter. I'm thinking of sending them a letter back saying that I replaced the convertors already . . . with 3" pipes!

I pulled the cat off of my '89 Formula, added a Dynomax exhaust (3") and lost HP. I guess I am getting old, I didn't want a loud exhaust on this car either, which explains why the stock exhaust is on there.

I still have mine. Stainless headers might be on the someday list, but aren't likely to hit the short list anytime soon.

If it helps, my Formula still has cats, it's just the Firehawk that's catless.

I can see why Mitch got rid of them, he doesn't have a good track record with cats anyway.... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

I've got mine (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) F-Stock!

I also got that letter in the mail. The dealer already replaced my driver's side cat a couple of years ago. Warranty FTW!

I got two of them, one for each car. I threw them away thinking it was more of those stupid extended warranty offers.
