And yep, that is a Blaine Fab sticker on the car. It is on there for the same reason the FRRAX sticker is on the front corners. There is a debt owing for all the primo info we get here.

Andy, I'm going to have to send you a bigger sticker....... 2thumbs.gif

Sorry for the delay, I installed this thing quite a while ago but my car has been camera shy. Anyway, I snapped a few pics today of my Big 10 Inch! (Spoiler):

Those are with it set at roughly 60 degrees, which is the highest setting of the first hole (he provided me with two attachment points). If you crank it down in this hole you can really lay it down. Big as it is, it's hard for me to see it being too much layed way back if you have any front aero work done at all (for roadracing at least). And it can be moved from there to virtually vertical, giving one a huge range of adjustment in rear downforce.

While I like Andy's idea of using chunks of the stock spoiler, mine was already pretty hashed. But those adhesive discs Alan sends with them can look pretty good if you put a coat or two of paint on before sticking them on:

Beautiful piece. I priced the materials I'd need for making one myself and let me say...that is an attractive price point you're offering them at. And I certainly wouldn't be able to make one that ncie on my first time.

And my God... blink.gif I'd love to see how the hell Jon is going to balance that massive spoiler up front.

Oh, it can be done. It shall be done! biggrin.gif It’ll probably take me a few more months, but I’ll post pics and instructions as soon as I get the thing built.

Hmmm, I bet a 4th gen would look great with a big F1 wing at the front - kinda like a giant hammerhead shark. Or, for those of us with an LS1 Camaro, a hammerhead catfish.

Kinda curious what one would look like with a bit of tinting to it. Put the tint on the backside, so it wouldn't get wind/debris damage. Not much tint, say 50% or less. You'd definitely still be able to see through it, unlike some other aftermarket spoilers which block rear vision signficantly.

Jon - Thanks for painting the patches - I punch them out of teflon coated fiberglass tape, and assumed that paint would not stick. How did you prep them for paint?

Rob - Ya, the coated Lexan is pretty pricey, and shipping is expensive too. UPS also managed to get something sharp thru 2 layers of cardboard and gouge the piece, leaving me with 1 spoiler worth of scrap.

Rob - I think standard auto tint on the spoiler would reflect light and appear opaque, much like what you would see if you look at a tinted hatch from the rear. Shields does offer a bronze tint on some pieces, but all sanctions that I know of prohibit tint front and rear so I would not recommend it for the spoiler, 'cept mebbe on an autocross car.

What you all will find is that the spoiler sucks up a layer of dust and grit on the backside - Use a recommended cleaner: http://racingshields.com/index_files/care.htm and rinse with lots of water. Never rub it dry. If you remove the Lexan panel from the brackets to clean it, do not overtighten the screws when replacing - just snug and then back off 1/8 turn.

Uhm...oops. I did uhmmm....nothing. I guess we'll see how long it sticks! biggrin.gif I just layed them on a piece of paper, shot them with a coat of primer, a couple coats of color and two coats of clear (I just repainted my fender yet again so I had the stuff on hand). It seemed to stick well, when peeling the backing off and sticking them on, while I tried not to, I did bend them around a bunch and the paint didn't seem to budge. I guess we'll see how long it sticks. They're pretty little, it wouldn't be difficult to paint a new set once a season if need be.

Like others on here, I can't wait to see that! Hopefully you will be done with that before the Northeast is in "Winter Mod Mode"! smile.gif

Announcing Group Purchase pricing on Blaine Fab's Lexan rear spoiler: The spoiler replaces the OEM spoiler for approx 7# weight saving. All hardware is stainless steel and aluminum. Angle of spoiler is adjustable from approx straight up to approx 45deg layback. Adjustment is accomplished without use of tools. The spoiler is mounted by drilling 10 holes thru the rear of the decklid, and bolting it on. The RR version has been proven on ITE, AI and CMC cars.

Normal pricing (prices do not include shipping or CA sales tax for deliveries in CA) on the BF spoiler is:
Open Road Race 5" $390
Road Race 7.5" $400
Prepared autox 10" $430

For this GP, for a total of 3 to 5 sales (combined any version) I will drop the prices 15%, ie:
Open Road Race 5" $332
Road Race 7.5" $340
Prepared autox 10" $366

If the GP generates a total of 6 or more sales (combined any version) I will drop the prices 20%, ie:
Open Road Race 5" $312
Road Race 7.5" $320
Prepared autox 10" $344

I will leave the GP open for 10days, please post interest or questions on this thread. For a firm order, please PM me or email me at ablaine (at) cruzio (dot) com, or call the shop at 831 427-3296.

Here is the spoiler on a 94 T/A:

And on a 4th gen Camaro:

I'd be glad to! What flavor? BTW, the current GP is here: http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/index.php?showtopic=8603
Pricing is still the same, and I have enough materials for a couple more left. Shop is full of nearly made spoilers, let me know if you want me to build you one.

If you do you'll have trouble seeing out of the back of the car. That's the beauty part, you can see throught it!

Yes, Lexan can be painted - it takes a special plastic paint, but even prepped by the instructions it does not stick very well. It is commonly used for the border around windshields, painted on the backside so not subject to wear and tear. On a spoiler I'm sure it would chip off.

If you have an application that does not need the rear visibility that the Lexan provides then I could make you one with a different material that can be properly painted. 831 427-3296

Hey Alan,

Dunno if this is still open but would love to get in on the GP for my AI build. Another install for me to do prior to handing the car over to you for the cage.

Thx

Hi Eric - This thread is quite old, GP was over a year ago. I did build a Z28 spoiler for stock, I'll PM you with a shipped cost.

Thanks! and welcome to frrax!
