burnout vids or ban!! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/burnout.gif) With stills of the broken diff after!!!! Seriously though, a very cool car. What tires, shocks (dashed lines on the label or solid), how does the shifter feel, does the car have a numb feeling, rear suspension squeak, do all the radio knobs work? Gotta love a car with the traction control button on the steering wheel! |

What tires, shocks (dashed lines on the label or solid), how does the shifter feel, does the car have a numb feeling, rear suspension squeak, do all the radio knobs work? Gotta love a car with the traction control button on the steering wheel! I've read how fragile these diffs are. It appears that hop and wind were addressed and fixed (to a degree) in 06. But, you are correct ... it can be a ticking bomb. The warranty service record showed two diff related fixes ... one was for a vent and the other for seals. So, when I saw that, I figured the car hadn't been run very hard. Also, the harness for the skip-a-shift was dirty with road grime. That indicated it hadn't been disabled. It has 80% run flats Haven't inspected the shocks or bushings yet. Its on my to-do list. The shifter feels like crap. Its "floaty" if that makes sense. Like the shifter is attached to a rubber ball. I don't feel it moving, though, when I rev the motor. Turn in is really crisp in comparison to say a GTO. Defeating TC/ST at the touch of a button is VERY cool. And when that happens, the car is pretty damn quick. It surprised me. No squeaks, but there is a slight rattle from the exhaust. All the radio and Nav knobs and button appear to work ... that is, they do something. Just haven't figured out what they all do. I did discover the seat memory button and Driver #1 must've been vertically challenged. |

Mitch you a pimp.
I've read how fragile these diffs are. It appears that hop and wind were addressed and fixed (to a degree) in 06. But, you are correct ... it can be a ticking bomb. The warranty service record showed two diff related fixes ... one was for a vent and the other for seals. The next gen V's get an iron housing. Not sure if they will interchange or not but I can ask. We might have an extra laying around (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) The seal issue was a major problem (recall) because the seal supplier changed materials without authorization. Not aware of vent issues. |
