Crank up your speakers real loud.... This is what a 427 with 540 na hp sounds like. Listen to the idle at the end. It's a Lingenfelter engine.

Yikes!
I bought my Darton block for $2,400 from Speed Inc. After that you can get a full rotating assembly (Eagle crank, Eagle rods, Diamond pistons/rings, bearings) all balanced from APE for $2,500 ish. Take all of that to your favorite local machine shop, have the block bored, everything assembled for $300-$500 ish, slap in your favorite cam for $400ish and bam you have your 427 shortblock for a little under $6,000. Adding a great set of heads puts you closer to $8,000 like Randy guessed. The only only people who I see go with Lingenfelter are wealthy individuals who like to drop off the car with their keys and pick it up a few weeks later. |
