The discussion that of this season WC events especially the CTS-v team has intrigued me. I read where they used a C5R block but ran it at stock displacement. I did not think that was really all that fair. Oh well I guess.
I also read they were able to move the engine rearward to even the weight bias. I could not find something to confirm that bit. Reading the link below - I suppose loosely interpreted you could have a C5R block and meet stock displacement. http://www.speedvisionwc.com/carfacts.html Grand Touring (GT): Includes a variety of production displacements with no maximum. Forced induction is permitted and is used to equalize individual models. Sedans, coupes, convertibles and two-seat models are permitted. The cars can be rear-wheel, or all-wheel drive. Class horsepower range is 425-550 bhp. There were some people talking about body modifications to the CTS-V. This link has some talks about it: http://www.theracesite.com/index.cfm?paget...rm_article=6513 "As to the seemingly extreme body modifications Coalwell said, "the only unfortunate thing is that the CTS-V has such a high stock ride height and the "flat-sided" body, the race body looks quite a bit different from stock because when they lowered the car the 5" to get down to the permitted 3" minimum ride height they had to move the wheel arch up the side of the fenders and trim the bottom of the bodywork so that it did not drag on the ground." [edit] I guess they could have taken a full sized van and made its ride height 3" tall and won last weeks race. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) [/edit] |

My issue with what I watched last weekend is seeing 'hacked up' caddies defeat the rest of the field 1-2. I watched one caddy with a dead engine [due to a dragging clutch] on the starting grid, then managed to get it started, then pass all the other cars but the other caddy. Meaning I think the number two finisher was dead last of all the cars that finished the race at the start of the race.
All CTS models are available with M tranmissions. See the reviews on Edmunds. QUOTE (94bird @ Mar 25 2004, 12:20 AM) QUOTE (Soma07 @ Mar 25 2004, 12:10 AM) But the big question is will it have a manual tranny available? Without one it'll have a hard time attracting diehard gearheads no matter how much power it has. Good question. Can't answer it yet, but I will say we're not going after the diehard gearhead market. We're just going to come out with a car that beats up on cars owned by diehard gearheads. Hehe. |
