I avoided taking strong sides in the whole ls1.com v. ls2.com and ls1.com v. ls1tech.com arguments. I figured much of it was bickering. However, this thread is a real eye opener to the fiscal management behind the board. There's plenty of "noise" to sift through, but the story of the downward spiral, backed by numerous emails seems to be quite damning. While I had significantly cut my visits to ls1.com, I guess it's time to forget them completely. I'm still surprised more sponsors have not jumped ship.

To be honest, I don't visit the other boards anymore. It seems the bigger they get the worse they are. It starts to Get too "noisy"....

The main boards I visit (other than here) are ws6zxr.com and camaroz28.com. ws6zxr.com because they have a good tech section, and because my local club's board is there, and camaroz28.com because they actually have some really good technical posts. I check in on ls1.com usually once a day just to see if there are any posts in the autox or Firehawk section that I can help out with.

I can't remember the last time I was at Ls1.com, and haven't even registered at LS2.

I've seen quite a few message boards come and go as the dominant ones. Cz28 has stuck around pretty long though.
Once the SLP board closed, I started hanging out in more regional forums/boards.

I like this one though (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Noise? Your link links to at least 30 pages of posts...

Please tell me that LS1 and LS2 are owned and operated by two seperate groups. IMHO LS1 was lame a long time ago.

I check out CZ28.com too for the LT1 tech section. However, in the past year it's been filled with a bunch of trash that belongs in the lounge. There are some great guys there but you have to wade through a lot of crap. Of course they are trying to resolve that now.

I never really considered (or understood) the "us against them" mentality between message boards (other message boards?). To me it seems like the Ford/Chevrolet debate. In the end, everyone has gotta drive something, so buy what makes you happy. I'm not sure how frrax.com got drug into a few of the arguements. We are still fairly small and specialized and are really in a slightly different niche than those other boards. I know there have been problems (percieved or otherwise) with some of the other boards and I am not inclined to care much about the "behind the scenes" problems. The "soap opera" seems to be an ongoing thing "over there", but the less I hear about it, the better (I'm just not interested). I think we've all learned from some of the mistakes (heavy handed moderation, etc) that spawned the creation of frrax.com and I think we're better for it (you either learn from history, or it is destined to be repeated).

I'm content to let them beat themselves up if they want to, but I'd prefer to stay out of the melee.

And, Eugenio, as far as I can tell, you (and eveyone) will always be welcome here. I, for one, am too busy to judge anyone.

Oh, and Matt, welcome aboard!

The funny thing is LS2 is not much different from LS1. LS1 went downhill a long time ago. Zed and Elmer upheld the Nazi board rules over at LS1 and are not two guys I would admire. They both cared more about the gneral discussion trash than anything else-all the tech people left to LS1tech a long time ago. Up until recently they strongly defended LS1.com Here they are crying about not getting paid-they're the fools for sticking around so long. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) And don't get me started on Dr. Evyl. *rolleyes*

Look at their autocross forum. They made Sam the sponsor. As much as I like Sam I don't think anyone that is a sponsor/vendor should moderate a forum. That's one of the evils I hated about LS1.com

Sam don't take this the wrong way. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) I'll be calling you this fall ordering stuff and getting advice. I'm in debt to you for your help with my autocross efforts.

I already knew a lot of that, and generally try to stay out of it. I have never understood why people want to be mods, but clearly many do.

I haven't been to LS1.com but a few times since the split. I do visit LS2.com for the political arguing forum though. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) I still visit CZ28.com daily for the LT1 tech stuff.

BTW...I agree with Rob. The same guys that bashed you, beat on you & were lock and ban happy over at LS1 are now the ones running LS2.

But their defense always was..."But that are the rules we have to work with". And that always ticked me off.... Just a bunch of bullcrap. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

...funny how they don't seem to be banning any of the rhetoric that is spewing forth about the spit though eh.....when it serves THEIR purposes.... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) ...

...it IS amusing how infantile people can be though....

I stopped visiting LS1.com a long time ago, then I heard about the whole explosion thing, so I visited LS2.com, and my first post was deleted. So I haven't been back. Oh well, I read too many of these forums the way it is.

Question... what happened to LS1.com anyway? Whenever I see it brought up on other boards there's just a ton of mudslinging.

Was it embezzlement of advertising funds, or something else?

What caused the moderator mutiny?

I knew this was going on, but I never really understood "why".

In a nutshell.
The owner had promised to pay the old isp... the admins gave an ultimatum and it was not met.
The admins left and brought lots of people with them.

There are 2 sides of the coin...
1, people think that the ls1 owner is crap, and can't be trusted because of not paying the isp.
2, who cares, the $ of the board owners is none of our business. it's the owner problem and not the members.

Either way, people should just get over it.

btw, the guys at ls2 banned me or stunned me with "miserable" and I get the following message all the time:

vBulletin Message
The server is too busy at the moment. Please try again later.

While not getting it under any other IP or user.
I guess they don't like the questionning and only want to have posted what suits their purpose.
Shows how different they say they run the place... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
btw, not venting... actually feel like laughing of the irony... as if I care.
