Discuss.

"Watch as the 505-horsepower 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 battles the famed German Nurburgring track in inclement weather. With an impressive lap time of 7:37.47, that puts the Camaro ahead of the published times for the Porsche 911, Carrera S, and the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640."

I will start. This thing sounds amazing and finally a good 5th gen.

OH-YES Sounds: check

Fast lap time: check

but....

Needs to lose a lot of weight before I'd seriously consider one. I'm happy to see the new mustang and the new m3 both have lost weight and I hope it wakes up the chevy boys to make either a lightweight version OR make the standard one a lot lighter.

Yeah they honestly didn't cut much weight out.

2800 airbags and their associated pyrotechnics does add a lot of weight, doesn't it? (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/banghead.gif)

Plus:
I'm so happy that guys with a set of big brass ones engineer the Camaro and Corvette.
Wow that LS7 sound!
Nice sticky rubber from the factory.
Hopefully won't become a poseur's special.
Awesomeness of that lap time for a big ol' boy.
Puts to rest that this country can't make cars that turn.
It's a heck of a performance goal for the sixth generation.
Really, the last third of the lap in the wet, again, big brass ones FTW!

Minus:
3800 pounds....that's a lot of weight to sling around and a whole lotta mass when the shiny side wants to go turtle.
Wipers? Ha, just go faster.
Likely MSRP north of $55K.

While I'm not fond of the fifth gen, thinking that it's really a modern Chevelle instead of a proper Camaro, I will have to hand it to the team at the General for raising the pony car to a level in which no excuses or conditionals need apply when comparing it to the world's sports cars. I hope the focus continues for the sixth generation which should see some of the bulk disappear with hopefully none of the performance.

Way too heavy... it needs to go the route of the mustang for me to consider buying one.
