I like the black roof, black lights, and the fat back tires.

The thread below goes on and on. If the 500 hp rumor is true then I expect the car will have a 7.0l. 427ci*405hp/346ci=499hp

Certainly GM can get to 500 hp with a 6.4l if they wanted to try that hard. There is a guy on ls1tech that is firm about the new z06 being a 6.4l as he is involved in some part of the production process.

http://forums.gminsidenews.com/showpost.ph...391&postcount=1

Note the other z06 off to the right edge of the image in the first post in the above thread.

In person the c6 looks more compact. I like the one I saw better than the photographs of them. So I am more excited about the c6 z06 than in previous days.

Enjoy

Man....I just hope what EVERYONE says is true....the C6 looks better in person than in pics.....I have never seen a C6 in person yet, but it only looks "good" in a very few pics I have seen....it NEVER looks HOT... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Red is the color of the one at the dealer.

The rear wheels are a very tall looking 19 inchs.

The photos of the c6 which I felt looked the best were of the black and then the dark blue.

I was surprised that I liked the c6 looks more so than in the photos. I hope the same is true about the changes they will make for the c6 z06.

My cousin that been working @ GM for quite awhile ... was actually working on the C6 frame design team.
told me that there would be a 500hp version 427cid... but they weren't sure if would revive the Stingray name... but he thought they would just keep it under the Z06.
I guess only time will tell.
It's been over a year that I know what the C6 looks like with some pics from inside that I swore never to let anyone see. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/thumbup.gif)

So many rumors, we will see once it comes out. One thing is for sure, it will be above my price range. I think will wait a bit longer this time. My 01 z06 stickered for 49,500. Add tax and you have a hefty sum. I bought it from a guy with 500 miles on it, still even had the plastic on the floorboards. I paid 42500 in early sept 01. Since then used car prices are in the shitter. Even though I thought I made out getting a new car at a big discount, I have lost at least 12k since then. I enjoyed the car so I guess it was worth it, but I guess if I ever own another z06 I will wait.

I don't know how they will make another one too much better than this one, since properly driven it will take just about anything out there on a road course. If they make significant improvements, it will be better than some serious race cars. It is already almost as fast as the world challenge touring car leaders at road atlanta stock with some kumho victoracers.

I agree with Tim. It is better to wait. That's why I didn't feel so bad picking up an 04 with 0% interest. The Z06 is an evolutionary animal. Just the 4 years of production had many changes, 3 different sets of shocks, stiffer bushings (first ones were deflecting & causing the car to go out of alignment during AutoX or hard driving on the street, 20 more hp from 2001, etc.

I really hope they do come out with a 427... it would be soo easy to mod into insane amounts of power.

I can tell you he's been working on it... that's the first thing he told me over 1 year ago... actually almost 2 now... but then, the C6 was supposed to have all aluminum frame but that got changed... I would have to confirm if the aluminum frame is only Z06 or if it was all dropped due to costs... but I remember him telling me that there would be a good price hike due to it.

at the time, when we spent the whole evening talking about the Vette, at his brother wedding (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) the engine part of the story was still rumors and not cast in stone.
but the goal was to kill the viper in power, and to kill it in all aspects at any track, for less $.
so the 500+/500+ was a goal... nothing approved at that time... so don't know for sure.
I know for sure he was working on the all aluminum frame... heck I was sure the C6 was coming out with it.

I saw a bunch of C6's at Mid Ohio when I was there for the World Challenge race. I hadn't liked the pictures of them, but I really liked the cars (even the 'vert). They had several running around there (GM brought them out).

Props to the guy that went to the trouble to put this post together:

http://forums.gminsidenews.com/showpost.ph...90&postcount=31

It is a 3/4 front shot of the z06 spy shot found above and 3/4 shots of the the c6.

Eugenio can you comment on the c6 z06 spy shot?
Is there intake ducting similar to what you see on the viper?

7.0L and 500 HP is not just a rumor. It's been what we've been hearing for over a year now from various GM people and suppliers in the Detroit area. One of my friends who works at GM's Milford Proving Grounds says it will also have a dry sump if all the LS7 C6s he's seen doing testing are any indication. That would be interesting.

The 7L will also have titanium connecting rods and valves.

A lot of the Viper guys at work are worried about the new LS7 vs. the Viper, but if GM only rates the LS7 at 500 HP as has been rumored, there will be a quick response from Dodge I bet.

The viper guys who have any sense should already be worrying about the current car on a road course. I have been to viperdays the last two years at vir, and my first time at the track with street tires racing against a good friend who was a good driver also new to the track with street tires I managed a 2:17 and he a 2:20 (me in a stock 01 385 z06). This year I ran with victoracers and managed a 2:12.6 and he with old street tires a 2:21. I passed a lot of raced prep vipers that were running in the mod class. THe only guys that had me outgunned were the full out race guys. Now I have heard rumors that three years back a pro driver was able to manage a 2:12 in a gts with street tires, but I have never seen anything close. On track at vir the viper guys don't stand a chance against me a novice driver in an 01 z06. At road atlanta I am still behind my buddy when he runs hoosiers, he has turned a 1:39 and me a 1:40. He has a lot of time there, but even with my stock z06, it goes down to the driver, and even though I have never driven a viper, I believe it is probably quite a bit more difficult to handle than a z06. If the new car is as balanced as the old one, with more power the vipers will have no chance. At road atlanta, my buddy can pull me 10 car lengths and I am on him in the braking zone in 10a. With more power that would be all she wrote.

Viper buyers aren't Vette buyers in the Vette's current guise. There's almost no cross over. If the new Vette was to come out with higher HP than the Viper, it's likely the Viper would lose some buyers. I've heard quite a few times the new LS7 will be rated slightly above 500 HP just to surpass the Viper numbers.
